I & H Brown are delighted to announce that we have secured our latest project with Chivas Brothers to upgrade the external infrastructure at their existing bottling plant at Kilmalid, West Dunbartonshire which began in October.
Works will involve the construction of a new access road and bridge to access the plant off a new roundabout South of the existing entrance. There are extensive concrete and surfacing works required for the new HGV access road and lorry park. To the north of the existing entrance, a new roundabout will be constructed along with a new pedestrian underpass which will keep pedestrians and vehicles separate. A major new car park will also be built at the facility.
The main challenge for the project is the interface of our works with the existing bottling plant operations which run around the clock. A key phasing plan is being developed in conjunction with Chivas Brothers to ensure disruption is kept to an absolute minimum.
The bottling plant recently completed a full internal refurbishment and these external infrastructure works form part of a major investment at the plant to greatly increase capacity. The facility is Chivas Brothers’ largest bottling plant and currently produces 26 million cases a year.
