PROJECT MANAGER

As a Project Manager at I & H Brown, you’ll lead the successful delivery of civil engineering projects from inception to completion. You’ll be responsible for ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with clients, engineers, and site teams, you’ll coordinate all aspects of project planning, delivery, and performance.

This is a key role for an experienced and driven professional who can combine strong leadership and technical expertise with excellent communication and commercial awareness. key responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day site operations and manage all project phases.
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality) systems.
  • Interpret and implement contract and tender documentation.
  • Develop and monitor project programmes and schedules.
  • Procure labour, plant, sub-contractors, and materials.
  • Supervise and coordinate site teams and resources.
  • Maintain site security and safeguard company assets.
  • Prepare and manage cost plans, ensuring effective cost control.
  • Identify and report potential claims or contractual issues.
  • Submit valuations and variations in line with contract requirements.
  • Monitor productivity and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Manage material deliveries and resolve quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate site records and daily logs.
  • Attend and report at site progress and client meetings.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Support design management processes where applicable.
  • Assist with tender pricing and pre-qualification submissions.
  • Mentor junior team members and support their development.
  • Take ownership of personal development and attend training as required.

Skill, knowledge, and experiences

  • Degree or HND in Civil Engineering with a solid understanding of construction processes and infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in project management within civil engineering.
  • Strong understanding of NEC or similar contract forms.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets and costs.
  • Proficient in project planning and reporting tools.
  • Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Full UK driving licence.
