Following a competitive tender process, I & H Brown have secured a contract with developer, Places for People for an initial enabling works package at their Redheughs Village housing site.
Redheughs Village is a large development site in Gogar on the West side of Edinburgh. The masterplan covers a massive 54 hectares and includes 1300 homes, a community hub, a village centre and a new primary school.
This 31-week programme, scheduled to commence on 16 February 2026, will involve a comprehensive upgrade of Gogar Station Road aimed at enhancing capacity, safety and connectivity along this key access route to the site.
Our scope of works includes general road upgrades, incorporating kerbing, road widening and surfacing, new lighting, drainage and signage. The project will also deliver new footpath construction with tree protection measures, significant roundabout improvements at RBS and the A71, including new traffic signals, as well as utilities diversions. Additional works include the construction of a new compound area with bellmouth access, underpass footpath works, INNS and tree removal, and associated ancillary works.
The project presents several challenges, most notably the need to liaise closely with RBS at Gogarburn to manage staff movements throughout the day, coordinate multiple utility contractors, and deliver the works within a tight programme. Careful planning, collaboration and clear communication will be critical to ensuring progress is maintained while minimising disruption to stakeholders and the travelling public.
This project marks our first contract with Places for People, and we look forward to commencing construction of their flagship development in Scotland!
