Final Turbine Foundation Completed at Stranoch Wind Farm

Our team on site at Stranoch Wind Farm, working on behalf of EDF Renewables, has now substantially progressed through the PC1 phase of the project.

A major milestone was achieved on 24th July with the pouring of the final turbine base, containing 810m³ of concrete. This marked the completion of all 20 turbine foundations, with a total of 12,500m³ of concrete and 1,600 tonnes of steel now placed on site.

Stranoch Wind Farm commenced in February 2024, and represents our largest wind farm project to date. These works include borrow pit operations, the construction of approximately 17.5 km of new site tracks, crane hardstandings, WTG base foundations, a control building, SPEN platform, and associated cabling works.

Delivering such a large-scale renewable energy project in a remote and challenging location has required considerable perseverance and teamwork. The site team have successfully overcome difficult ground conditions and complex logistics to maintain steady progress throughout the contract. Once complete, the 102 MW Stranoch Wind Farm will generate enough renewable energy to power more than 56,000 homes, contributing significantly to Scotland’s transition to a cleaner energy future.

The team are now completing the final roads and crane hardstandings in the Northern Array, ahead of turbine deliveries scheduled for early October. Credit and thanks go to everyone involved in achieving this milestone and maintaining excellent momentum on site.
