We’re pleased to announce that we’ve been appointed by Diageo to carry out important upgrade works at their Blackgrange Maturation Complex near Alloa - the largest whisky maturation site in Europe.
This project will take place over 24 weeks and involves replacing key parts of the site’s underground sprinkler main and hydrant system. The work is part of Phase 2 of the Sprinkler Main Replacement and Associated Works, and is vital to keeping the site safe and secure.
Our team is responsible for the full design, installation, testing and commissioning of the new system. This includes installing new underground pipes, valves, hydrants and specialist sprinkler valve chambers. The existing internal fire protection system, which operates on a dry pipe setup, will remain in place and connect into the new network.
Blackgrange is a Tier 1 COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) facility and a key part of Scotland’s whisky supply chain. It stores around 3 million casks at any one time and supports world-famous brands like Johnnie Walker. This means safety and continuity are critical, and the site presents a number of challenges including maintaining operations, managing traffic, and dealing with uncharted services and known asbestos zones.
We’re proud to support the whisky industry – one of Scotland’s most iconic sectors, employing tens of thousands and exporting around the world. Helping to protect a site of this scale is a responsibility we take seriously, and we’re delighted to be working with Diageo on this essential project.
