We are happy to announce that we have secured a contract with RES to deliver works on the platform area, and to construct an access road, to a proposed BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) site. The site is located adjacent to an existing substation East of Spennymoor, in County Durham.
Our scope of work includes upgrading an existing farm track to facilitate access to the BESS site and delivering grouting works beneath the future platform area. These works will provide the necessary ground stability and access infrastructure required for the successful delivery of the main project. The enabling works form a crucial foundation for what will be a significant addition to the region’s renewable energy capability.
As the works will take place on a working farm, close coordination with the landowner will be essential. We’re committed to maintaining strong communication throughout to ensure smooth and safe project delivery.
This enabling package marks an important step forward in preparing the site for the 99.9MW BESS installation, and we’re proud to play a part in supporting the UK’s growing renewable energy market. The project will start on 17th July 2025 and has a 6-week programme.
This is I & H Brown’s 4th project in battery storage sector; and further cements our strong reputation in this growing market.
