We are looking for an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our civil engineering team. This is a key role supporting the Commercial Director, Contracts Managers, and Site Agents across a variety of infrastructure projects. You will be involved in all aspects of project cost management, from tender stage through to final account, ensuring financial control, value, and compliance with contractual obligations.

key responsibilities
- Support the Commercial Director, Contracts Managers, and Site Agents with commercial and contractual matters, helping to resolve issues efficiently.
- Assist with internal cost reporting, forecasting, and financial management across projects.
- Prepare and manage commercial and contractual correspondence.
- Review new or varied works, checking quotations, rates, and conditions.
- Ensure timely submission of applications for payment and final accounts.
- Represent commercial interests at site meetings.
- Contribute to the review of tender documentation and assist with project handovers.
- Support the negotiation, preparation, and management of sub-contracts through to final account.
- Assist with preparing and negotiating claims in conjunction with senior colleagues.
- Review and vet final accounts and prepare final account reports.
- Operate in line with company's Health and Safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant contract conditions and health and safety legislation.
- Attend company training and carry out other duties as required.
Skill, knowledge, and experiences
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a similar role within the civil engineering or construction sector.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g. NEC, ICE, or similar forms).
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in cost reporting, forecasting, and commercial administration.
- Confident communicator, able to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Sound understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and other commercial systems.
