key responsibilities
- Support the successful delivery of civil engineering projects by ensuring all works are set out and completed accurately, safely, and to specification.
- Carry out all surveying, setting out, and site measurement activities, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Operate, maintain, and secure all surveying and IT equipment, ensuring calibrations and servicing are completed as required.
- Monitor quality, progress, and productivity on site, addressing any issues promptly with your line manager.
- Assist in preparing valuations, sub-contractor payments, and cost control processes to ensure projects remain within budget.
- Liaise closely with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors to ensure effective coordination and communication across all site operations.
- Support environmental, health, safety, and quality compliance in line with company policies and procedures.
- Contribute to producing sketches, drawings, and reports to support project delivery and record keeping.
- Take responsibility for maintaining accurate daily records of site activities, resources, and events.
- Actively participate in site meetings, planning discussions, and progress reviews.
- Seek opportunities for learning and development, including mentoring from senior engineers and attending company training sessions.

Skill, knowledge, and experiences
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- A good understanding of civil engineering principles and construction processes.
- Awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards in construction.
- Strong numeracy and IT skills, with familiarity in using surveying equipment and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Trimble, or similar).
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside colleagues, subcontractors, and clients.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload and priorities in a fast-paced site environment.
- A full UK driving licence and flexibility to work on projects across Scotland and the wider UK.
