A Celebration of 408 Years of Service!

Last month, we celebrated the careers of a group of recently retired plant operators with a lunch at The Tayside Hotel in Stanley where we thanked them for their many years of service with I & H Brown

The individuals attending had amassed an incredible combined total of 408 years of service between the 12 of them! A very dedicated and hard-working team.  They included Jimmy Stewart, David McLaren, David Don, James Henderson, Billy Clark, Jimmy Gourlay, Jock Hendry, Paddy O’Donnell, Davie McDonald, John Alexander, Willie McGibbon and Gordon Turner who all operated on a range of machines over the last 4 decades. It is this sort of dedication that has helped to expand the company into the business it is today.

One of the retirees John Alexander, started as a bricklayer in 1980 working on a maintenance contract with BP, we still hold today!  He progressed on to be a foreman with the company and worked the length and breadth of Scotland. At one point, John employed his father and three brothers, and his son Gary who still works with us now.

Our retirees were presented with a long service watch to mark their time with the company. These individuals have played a huge part in the company’s success over the past few decades and we thank them for their hard work and dedication!
